…As Kaduna reinstates 37 wrongfully sacked workers
Kaduna State governor, Senator Uba Sani, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure overwhelming support from Northern Nigeria in the 2027 presidential election, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to justice by approving the reinstatement of 37 local government workers who were wrongfully disengaged under the previous administration.
Speaking yesterday during the flag-off of the 122-kilometre Kaduna–Birnin Gwari Road project, Governor Sani declared that the 2027 presidential election had “already been concluded”, predicting that the North would deliver at least 95 percent of its votes to President Tinubu.
The Governor attributed his confidence to what he described as the President’s unprecedented commitment to the development of Northern Nigeria, particularly Kaduna State. According to him, Kaduna residents are satisfied with the Federal Government’s investments in critical infrastructure, including the ongoing Western Bypass project and the planned resumption of work on the Eastern Bypass.
Sani described Kaduna as the “capital of Northern Nigeria”, saying its development benefits the entire region. “We will continue to support the President. I have no doubt in my mind that the 2027 election has been concluded, and we are giving President Tinubu at least 95 percent of the total votes”, he said. The Governor further maintained that no previous Nigerian president had undertaken as many development projects in Northern Nigeria as Tinubu, challenging critics to prove otherwise.
Meanwhile, Governor Sani has approved the reinstatement of 37 Unified Local Government Service workers who were found to have been wrongfully disengaged during the administration of former governor Nasir el-Rufa’i.
Presenting reinstatement letters to the affected workers in Kaduna, Chairman of the Kaduna State Local Government Service Board, Prof. Aminu Suleiman, said the decision followed the implementation of recommendations made by a committee that had earlier established the workers were unjustly dismissed. He explained that although the committee had recommended their reinstatement, the decision was never implemented until the workers petitioned the present administration.
According to Suleiman, Governor Sani approved their immediate reinstatement after reviewing the case and confirming that the disengagements were unjust. He disclosed that while serving workers would return to their respective local government councils immediately, retirement benefits would be processed for those who had since retired, while families of workers who died before the approval would receive their entitlements.
The chairman described the governor as compassionate and committed to justice, commending the Head of Service, the Secretary to the State Government, the Ministry for Local Government Affairs and other stakeholders for supporting the process.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Chairman in Kaduna State, Ayuba Suleiman, described the reinstatement as further proof of Governor Sani’s labour-friendly disposition and commitment to fairness.
Similarly, Kaduna State Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Abdullahi Ɗan Fulani, welcomed the reinstatement and urged prompt payment of all outstanding entitlements. Speaking on behalf of the reinstated workers, Michal Anga thanked Governor Sani for approving their return after years of seeking justice, saying they deliberately chose dialogue and due process over litigation, a decision that ultimately paid off.
